About Claire
Claire is inspired by the ability of nature to beautify otherwise mundane buildings. In particular, she is motivated by a desire to emulate the behaviour of climbing plants and the efflorescence that develops as manmade structures are captured.
Expressive drawing is fundamental to Claire’s design approach. She enjoys overlaying gestural imagery with digitally manipulated designs and uses screen printing techniques to transfer these organic forms onto diverse substrates.
Claire’s final collection consists of interior accessories together with an exterior wall piece. Through incorporation of copper mesh and cotton, the wall piece is designed to gradually evolve in response to the external environment. Seeking to blur the division between inside and out, the interior collection explores the interplay of light and shadow whilst also reflecting the tendency of climbing vines to conceal.
